The Line 6 DL4 put a rack of modeled delays and an instantly usable looper into one stompbox. It became a classic because it was practical, strange, and easy to perform with: three preset switches, tap tempo, expression control, and enough character to show up everywhere from church boards to experimental noise rigs.
