The Big Box RAT is the large-enclosure version of the ProCo circuit that helped define the space between distortion, overdrive and fuzz. It can do ragged crunch, tight punk rhythm, singing lead sustain and ugly near-fuzz without pretending to be refined. The Filter control is the trick: clockwise gets darker, so set it with your ears rather than your muscle memory.
