The Shin-ei Uni-Vibe is the original lamp-and-photoresistor modulation unit best known for its chewy chorus/vibrato pulse. It was built to approximate a rotating speaker, but its uneven sweep became its own language: watery, deep, and hypnotic under fuzz, clean chords, or slow psychedelic leads.
